I save myself because I know what I need
as surely as I know what I cannot keep.
I  throw away useless guilt 
which others tell me I should embrace.
I throw away second guessing decisions I've made
because others tell me I should rethink and debate.
I throw away the drama of pettiness
acted out with false concern and twisted truths.

I know my mind and what I need to survive
in a world which tells me I am not worthy.
I open the dark spaces to let in the light
which only I can see and feel and utilize.
I will blaze my path with intent and purpose,
Kicking away pebbles meant to stall and trip.
